BRIDGWATER Town will look to take their encouraging midweek performance against Slimbridge in this weekend's Southern League Division One South & West clash at Winchester City.

The Robins picked up only their second point of what has been a tough start to the campaign as they held unbeaten Slimbridge to a goalless draw at Fairfax Park on Tuesday night.

Town remain bottom of the division with two draws and six defeats from their eight games as they gear up for fellow strugglers Winchester, who are third bottom with four points from seven games.

But there have certainly been some encouraging sings for Robins boss Craig Laird in between some heavy losses for his young side thrown together in time for the season.

They went down 5-0 at home to Evesham United last Saturday, in a game that was goalless heading towards the hour mark.

Laird's side have also been desperately unlucky in recent games, losing to a last-minute goal in the derby at Taunton while went down 3-2 at Yate having battled back from 2-0 down.

They will hope, however, the trip to Winchester will bring with it a first victory of the season.
