Staplegrove 244-9 beat North Petherton 152 by 92 runs

A SUPERB century by Dan Sizer set Staplegrove up for a fine win at Manor Road over North Petherton.

It was the base for a total of 244-9 which was always too much for Pethy who were dismissed for 152.

Joe Pantling and Ben Howe were gone at 23-2 but Ian Masters joined Sizer and the pair put on 128 before Liam Winter claimed Masters for 43 which contained six sixes.

Sizer continued to his ton with 14 boundaries and two sixes in 132 balls before he was finally out, caught by Mike Burns off David Rhoda for 108 at 203-4.

Skipper Ian Bishop also went to Rhoda but Richard Rowe (28) ensured the total got up to 229-7 and 21 extras plus 17 from the tail brought the innings to 244-9.

Scott Briffett took 2-42, Lewis Knight 1-49, Rhoda 4-36 and Winter 1-37 for North Petherton.

The reply stuttered to 152 all out with former Somerset paceman Stefan Jones ending with 4-24, giving Staplegrove 20 points to Pethy’s six.
