TAUNTON Town have captured their first new signing of the summer with the acquisition of Jake Cox from Yate Town.

The 27-year-old attacking full-back, who can also play in midfield, has spent the vast majority of his footballing career at Yate, making well over 200 appearances for the Lodge Road club since 2009 and winning the Supporters Player of the Year award for 2014/15.

He joined Mangotsfield United at the start of last season but soon returned to Yate around a month into the campaign.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: ”It’s great to get Jake on board for next season. "We very nearly signed him last pre-season so he’s certainly been on our radar for a while.

"He’ll give us plenty of options as he’s comfortable playing both right or left, full back or midfield which is perfect for us.

"I’m sure the supporters will really enjoy watching him in action.”
