TITANS forwards coach, Chris Brown praised his side for an 'incisive' performance in Saturday's 50-7 trouncing of Southend Saxons at Hyde Park.

Titans ran in eight tries to bring up their half-century for the first time this season, and Brown believes his players are reaping the rewards of some hard work on the training paddock.

He said: "I was very pleased with the way in which we stuck to our game plan on Saturday.

"We showed we have the decision makers to attack from all over the pitch in different forms, to challenge defences and to have the capability to adapt.

"We took our opportunities well in the second half and created throughout.

"I am delighted with certain aspects of our forward play - I felt both our lineout and our maul were strong and when we went to the line we took points.

"Complementing this was a strong performance from the backs, who were incisive throughout.

"I am pleased that the players got their just desserts.

"We have worked hard recently and I feel that the team is beginning to feel the full force of its potential.

"I sincerely hope for them that they continue to grow in this fashion, as the possibilities then become hugely rewarding."

Head coach, Tony Yapp added: "It was great to follow up last week’s performance with a good performance at home against a Southend side desperate for points.

"Despite an early blip, when Southend put together a sharp backs move that was nicely finished off, the rest of the game we controlled very well.

"This week was about putting in a performance that we would be happy with, and that proved to be the case; the forwards showed their dominance in the set piece, giving the backs a good platform from which to launch attacks, and in open play both backs and forwards linked very well to keep width and tempo in the game, despite the heavy conditions."

Titans make the long trip to Suffolk to play Bury St Edmunds on Saturday.

The last time these sides met in October, the Titans scraped to a 26-22 win.

Bury have won seven games so far this season, while picking up five losing bonus and five try bonus points along the way.

Titans haven’t won three games on the bounce since mid-November, so the consistency from the start of the season needs to materialise if they are to be in the mix come the end of the season.

Elsewhere, Titans young fly-half Joe Simmonds has been called up to the England U20’s squad ahead of the forthcoming internationals.

He will be looking to emulate fellow Titans Sam Skinner, and former Titans Joel Conlon and Stu Townsend in picking up their U20’s cap.

The postponed game against the Cornish All Blacks has been re-arranged for Saturday, March 12 with a 2pm kick-off.
