BRIDGWATER Sports saw off a battling Staplegrove Reserves side to continue their good run of form in Division 1 of the Taunton & District Saturday League.

The 2-0 win retained their second place in the division.

Matthew Fursland and Piers Govier goals, the latter from the penalty spot, meant Sports now have five wins from five.

Locomotives leapfrogged opponents Middlezoy Rovers Reserves into third position with a hard-fought 2-0 victory. Stu Kennard and Ryan Vickery converted for Locos - the latter with a trademark free-kick.

In Division 2, Tone Youth Reserves are the new leaders on goal difference following a resounding 11-1 thrashing of bottom side Stogursey.

Gary Mckiernan was in superb form scoring four goals, Steve Reed and Steve Scorse netted twice each, while Gary Sheer, Luke Cannings and Mark Blight didn't miss the opportunity to get on the scoresheet.

Morganians stay third with a decent 3-1 win at Milverton Rangers. Ben Searle notched a double and Ben Chorley struck the other for the visitors.

Craig Plumridge tucked away the consolation for Milverton.

Dulverton made it two consecutive victories after a poor start to the season; they defeated Bridgwater Sports Reserves by a very creditable 4-0 scoreline. Josh Stevens sunk his opponents with a hat-trick, while Lewis Hough netted the other.

Ash Rangers continue their dominance in Division 3 after a slender 4-2 beating of Redgate.

Lewis Ahmed hit two of the goals as Harvey Puddy and Lewis Scutt grabbed one each for Ash - a result which lifts them to the top of the table.

Josh Weller and Rob Wooley found the net for Redgate.

Exmoor Rangers stopped the rot and secured their first win of the season, seeing off fellow strugglers Minehead Reserves 3-1.

Clinton Kneeshaw converted a penalty as Jake Worrall and Jimmy Baker bagged the other goals for Exmoor.

The table makes remarkable reading as Ash Rangers are 18 points clear of fifth after just seven games; also, just one point splits the bottom five teams.

In Division 4, the top three teams all succumbed to defeat in a day of shocks for this particular league.

The Gallery Reserves caused the greatest upset, fending off leaders Bridgwater Wolves in a 2-1 triumph which leapt them off the bottom of the table. Bridgwater Grasshoppers missed the opportunity to take over their Bridgwater counterparts as they lost 3-2 at home to Porlock Reserves.

Chris Boyd-Pane, Tom McCarthy and Michael Norman all struck for Porlock. Dan Saunders and Shaun Ricketts gave the home side hope but it wasn't enough as they fell to their first loss of the season.

Bishops Lydeard Colts failed to take advantage of the top two losing, they were soundly beaten 5-2 at home to Highbridge Town Reserves.

Shaun Hills managed both goals for Colts.

Mid-table Williton saw off bottom-placed Middlezoy Athletic by the narrowest of margins, Aaron Blandes hitting the solitary goal of the game.

Middlezoy finished strongly and did everything but score, with Darren Cann striking the woodwork from 35 yards and a goal disallowed.

Galmington Dragons Reserves are up to fourth after they eased to a 4-0 win at Hamilton Athletic Foxes in Division 5.

Isaac Dubb converted twice, with Tom Davies-Evans and Dave Chambers rounding of the scoring for Dragons.

White Eagles stay level on points; they hammered Morganians Reserves 6-1 to make it five wins from six so far this season.

North Curry climbed to six after winning 3-1 against their visitors, bottom side Norton Fitzwarren Reserves.

Lloyd Cuthbert, Josh Davies and own goal for Curry as Scott Mervin grabbed a consolation for Norton.

There was Rowbarton Charity Cup action last week and The Gallery of Division 1 were in a destructive mood as they beat Stogursey, a league below, by an impressive 8-0 scoreline.

Jack Taylor claimed the match ball with a hat-trick, as Lewis Hodge, Jason Mcpheat, Richard Ball, Jacob Shoemark and own goal took the tally to eight. Porlock hosted an all-Division 1 affair against Wyvern Rangers, a comprehensive 5-0 win for the home side.

Dan Bevans warmed the crowd with three goals, Adam Langdon and Thomas McCarthy also scored to put the outcome beyond any doubt.

Ash Rangers booked their place in the Quarter-Finals of the Seward Cup as they eased to a 6-1 win at league counterparts Exmoor Rangers.

Ali Poole was the stand-out performer with a hat-trick, as Jonno Lambert, Lewis Ahmet and Lewis Scutt showed no mercy with one each.

Tom Lott gave the score some respect for Exmoor.

Bridgwater Colts overcame Butlins FC with a marginal 4-3 victory; Gaza Howes, Matt Parker, Ryan Harris and an own goal clinched the vital goals for Colts.

The teams sit second and third place, respectively in Division 5, so it was to no surprise the Colts had to work hard to advance to the next stage.
