BURNHAM Cricket Club celebrated 154 years of cricket in the town with an excellent dinner at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club and acknowledged the performances of the players through the season with the presentation of club trophies.

Robbie Driver won the Skrimshire cup first XI batting award - and the bowling cup went to Brian Brogden.

Andy Ashfold and Andy Birkett won the second XI batting and bowling categories.

The chairman, Andy Birkett, was delighted to report that players of the season for the first and second XIs were won by young stars Mike Green and Paul Grant respectively.

The clubman of the year was won by Pete Gaylard, to reward his efforts in procuring and installing the new electronic scoreboard.

Sunday XI batting went to Lee Coles helped by his maiden century for the club versus Chard Sunday XI - and for the second time in three seasons following success with bat and ball, Jake Harding was awarded the Junior Player of the year.

It will be a long close season but the players will be looking forward to April and Burnham’s 155th season.
