BRIDGWATER Hockey Club kicked off the new season with its annual season starter Club Day at Chilton Trinity on Saturday, this year part of England Hockey's #HockeyFest programme.

More than 60 players came along from all sections of the club for a day of seven-a-side hockey to blow away the cobwebs to prepare for the season ahead.

It was also a great introduction to those new players joining the club this year.

To keep everyone fuelled during the day, there was a running barbecue and a fantastic selection of cakes.

The barbecue, cakes, a lottery card and fees for the day, all contributed to raising more than £140 for club funds.

More than five hours of hockey was watched by players, supporters and families alike.

Club chair Sheila Burridge complimented all those involved in organising ‘an excellent start for the season, with a real hockey family feel, and a great start to what we hope is another successful and enjoyable season on and off the pitch’.

Matters begin in earnest next weekend with some pre-season friendlies before the league season gets under way.

New players are always welcome, and can contact the club via the website at bridgwaterhc.co.uk

The club still has some match ball sponsorships available this year, and anyone interested should also contact the club via the website.
