A DESTRUCTIVE spell of bowling from Jack Luff inspired Lympsham to a ten-wicket demolition of Broadway and Horton in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League.

Luff returned figures of 6-14 from 8.5 overs as Lympsham bowled the visitors out for just 91 inside 31 overs.

He was well supported by Sam Poole (3-32), while a run-out accounted for the other wicket.

In reply, the hosts cruised to victory in the 20th over, thanks to an unbeaten 61 from Jason Parsons and 23 not out from Dave Luff.

Elsewhere in Division Three, Huntspill and District fell 22 runs short at home to Street 2nd XI.

Chasing 240 to win after A Jones (88) and K Wall (57) had both posted half-centuries, Huntspill finished up on 217-8.

Dan Cavill (53), Jake Randall (51) and Matt Counsell (43) were the pick of the Huntspill batsmen, but their efforts weren’t enough to get their side over the line.

In Division Five, East Huntspill suffered a seven-wicket defeat at Peasedown St John, who have G Tucker (134) to thank for such a commanding win.

Easts posted 218-7 batting first, thanks mainly to K Butt (68), Rob Pomeroy (37) and J Rai (34).

But the hosts made light work of the chase, reaching their target in just 32.5 overs.

S Kathait (2-24) and Pomeroy (1-47) were the Easts wicket takers.

Mark were beaten by eight wickets at Taunton Deane Cavaliers in Division Six, as the hosts successfully chased 142 with relative ease.

N Ollerenshaw (39) and S Tinklin (27) helped Mark to a modest total, but it was never going to be enough - and L Corbin (54) and B jones (33) ensured it wouldn’t be.

In Division 8N, Wedmore 2nd XI edged out Lympsham 2nd XI by just five runs thanks to a fine bowling display from C Curtin.

Curtin took 6-38 for the hosts to seal a dramatic win, while R Hale (3-20) chipped in with three wickets of his own.

Wedmore batted first and were all out for 139, with R Macarthur top scoring.

In reply, Lympsham could only muster 134 as Curtin and Hale ran through the line-up to win a nail-biting match for Wedmore.

In Division 9NW, Wedmore A slumped to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Shapwick and Polden 4th XI.

Batting first, Wedmore A were all out for just 105 – and were indebted to J Mcquarrie (26) for dragging them into three figures.

Shapwick made light work of the chase, cruising home with eight wickets and plenty of overs in hand.
