Burnham 72-2 beat Evercreech 71 by eight wickets

A DOMINANT bowling display fired Burnham 2s to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Evercreech on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

J Birkett led the way for Burnham with 4-35 as Evercreech were dismissed for just 71 in the 31st over – while S Green (3-13), J Harding (2-14) and D Aston (1-4) also chipped in to put Burnham in a strong position.

It was a position they would quickly go on to make the most of, as Andy Ashfold (26no) and P White (21no) saw Burnham home in comfortable fashion.

M Wood (3) was the first Creech batsmen to go and he was quickly followed by M Ough, who fell without scoring.

D Wood (27no) was the only player to get to grips with the Burnham bowling, but he was left high and dry, as none of the bottom seven could manager more than four – and only 14 runs between them.

J Harding (2-14) took the final wicket of R White (3) to finish off the Evercreech innings.

Pete Gaylard was dismissed for nought as early as the second over of Burnham’s reply, but Andy Ashfold and M Tipler (19) quickly repaired the damage.

Tipler fell to the bowling of Reed (1-11), but White joined forces with Ashfold and the pair were rarely troubled as Burnham eased to a fourth successive league win.
