HUNTSPILL and District won a dramatic match at Broadway and Horton by just two runs, thanks to a heroic bowling performance.

Having been bowled out for just 95, the Huntspill bowlers put in a match-winning performance, to dismiss Broadway for just 93 inside 42 overs.

D Counsell (2-22), M Counsell (3-33), S Lillycrop (3-21) and M Osmant (2-10) earned an unlikely win for the visitors.

C Slack (24), M osamnt (21) and A Jarvis (14) top scored for Huntspill, but they were the only three players to reach double figures as they were bowled out in just 37 overs.

I Hosken (4-8) did the damage for Broadway, while they were also three wickets for B Green (3-24).

But Huntspill fought back with the ball, with all four bowlers putting in a stellar shift to take the points from a low-scoring encounter.

M Osmant took the final wicket of B Scotting (4) to secure victory by the narrowest of margins.

In Division Four of the Somerset Cricket League, Lympsham cruised to a nine-wicket win at home to Glastonbury 2s, thanks to an unbeaten 45 from R Ford.

Earlier, L Morris (3-24) and J Froud (3-3) helped bowl Glastonbury out for just 98, before Ford and Hutton (32) saw Lymspham home with plenty to spare.

In Division 9SE, it was an afternoon to forget for Wedmore 2s as they crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at temple Cloud.

Batting first, Wedmore could only muster 50, with four players out without scoring.

M Lee (23) top scored with nearly half of the team’s score, but it wasn’t enough to cause Cloud any problems in reply as they reached their target two wickets down in 18 overs.

C Major (1-13) and C Maguire (1-31) were the wicket takers for Wedmore.

In 9NW, East Huntspill 2s won a low-scoring affair with Huntspill and District 2s by six wickets.

Kev Watts took 5-17 for Easts as Huntspill and District were all out for 96 batting first.

His efforts were backed up K Crennol (2-14) and H Dare (2-6) – with F Berry (22) and M Roper (21) top scoring for Huntspill and District.

The East Huntspill chase was a straight forward one and they passed their target inside 21 overs – D West (37) and J Picton (37no) played fluently for the visitors and didn’t take long to see their side home.

Elsewhere in 9NW, a depleted Wedmore A side slumped to a ten-wicket defeat at home to Leigh-on-Mendip.

The home side, playing with just nine players and therefore eight wickets, batted first and could only muster 75.

As expected, Leigh had few problems in pursuit - and S Brand (59no) led the way with an unbeaten half-century.
