Wrington Redhill 1, Berrow 1

A DEPLETED Berrow battled to a deserved point at Wrington in a game dominated by the wind.

Playing a new formation, Berrow started well with Shaun Lismore linking well with the midfield - and Jack Shepherd finding space on the left, but they were unable to create any clear cut openings.

Kyle McErlain, Jack West and Byron Lismore were doing well against the experienced front line and on a lovely playing surface they started to pass the ball with confidence.

The breakthrough came on 30 minutes when Luke McErlain played Luke Morgan into the box and after his first attempt was saved, he walked the ball into an empty net.

With the wind really picking up, Berrow had the upper hand for the remainder of the half in terms of possession, although they were thankful to Byron Lismore for two great blocks inside the box.

After an even opening to the second half, Simon Slocombe went close after a good run and shot, whilst a couple of free-kicks in potentially dangerous positions led to nothing.

The home side made a couple of changes and this brought them into the game, as there pacy wingers started to pose a real threat.

On 65 minutes they eventually drew level - Nick Slack did well to block, only for the ball to break to the winger who crossed and Byron Lismore was unfortunate to only be able to turn the ball into his own net.

Veterans Ryan McErlain and Lloyd Dean came on for Morgan and Dave Keirle, with both sides going in search of all three points.

The final 15 minutes was end to end but with both defences holding firm and West, Kyle McErlain and Byron Lismore outstanding from the first minute, a point apiece was a fair reflection on the 90 minutes.
