IT was the first match in charge for both the club captain Stuart Wills and seniors captain Bob Hurrell as they locked horns for the Masterman Plate on Saturday.

They both will head in to their next fixture with unbeaten records though as the game ended in a tie at three games each.

The two Winter knockout events reached their conclusion on Saturday with both Finals being played.

The Winter Singles Final was won by Gordy Wheelaghan as he recovered from a slow start to beat Roger Vaughan by 3 and 2.

In the Wadeley Plate it was a family battle with 'cousins' Broom taking on 'father and son' Jones. In the end it was David and Steve Jones who prevailed over Dan and Tom Broom to win the silverware.

A countback decided the outcome of Saturday's Super Series stableford with two players handing in 36 point scores. Mark Hatfield, courtesy of a couple of nett birdies on the closing two holes, edged out Neil Barker with a better back nine points tally.

Third place went to Kevin Davies on 35.

Jerry Brueford had a spectacular 25 points on his opening 9 holes in last Sunday's Monthly Stableford and coupled with a steady back nine he took the top spot in Division Two with the best of the day 43 points.

Runner up to him was Craig Higgins with 41 whilst 3rd placed Dave Bradley on 40 would have been victorious had he been in any other Division. T he top flight saw a countback being won by Murray Parsons on 38 ahead of Jason Kidley.

33 points was enough for Trevor Searle to win Division Three in another countback from Mo Sanders. Suzanne Hatfield won the Ladies event.
