STAPLEGROVE had to work hard to achieve this result as Wembdon battled from the first whistle to the last. Playing up the slope and against the wind Wembdon put on an excellent first half.
They competed in every department winning plenty of challenges and putting the Staplegrove team under constant pressure.
It took Staplegrove until the last couple of minutes of the first half before the finally beat the defiant Wembdon back line – with a long range shot beating Harrison French, who was unable to see the ball clearly as his view being blocked by a crowed box.
Wembdon were expected to be more of an attacking force in the second half playing down the slope.
But as Wembdon had proved to be difficult to break down in the first half, Staplegrove proved twice as difficult.
The conditions proved to be the winner as Wembdon tired on a heavy pitch and Staplegrove too full advantage scoring a further three times to seal the victory Man of the match was Ben Jackson.
