Jupiter 42, Team Bath 50

JUPITER suffered their first league defeat of the season as they went down by eight points to Team Bath on Sunday.

Bath came out and defended hard against Jupiter's attack.

Bath led after the first quarter 12-8 - Becky Cowley (GD) and player of the match Lisa Lukins (GK) worked tirelessly against the impressive bath shooters.

Jupiter knew that they had to make changes as after the first-half, Bath led 28-16.

Changes to Jupiter's attack saw Becky Palmer take to the shooting circle alongside (GS) Paige Davey allowing Sammy Kemmish to drop back in to the defence.

This allowed Jupiter to close gap going into the final quarter.

The final quarter saw more changes to the versatile Jupiter squad - and despite an end-to-end battle from both teams, Bath maintained their lead.

Saturn 26, Babylon 39

SATURN went out strong against Babylon this week, drawing the first quarter 9-9 despite not having their usual starting line up.

A hard battle in defence by player of match Lucy brown GK and Emma Downes GD wasn't enough to prevent Babylon pulling away, with a half time score of 14-22.

Changes to the team saw Saturn regroup with superb work between Rachel Simpson WA and Emma Reynolds C in the third quarter.

Brilliant accuracy in shooting by Becky Palmer GA allowed Saturn to maintain a steady score, however this was not enough.

Neptune 43, Hendford 30

THERE was no Love in the air this Valentines as Neptune looked to secure a home win against Hendford from Yeovil.

As a new team combination took to the court a tentative start was made, but safe passes and control of the ball allowed Neptune to edge into the lead at the end of the first quarter 12-10.

Controlling the defensive circle Sally Haysham GK Julie McClean GD and Saskia Middleton WD forced attacking errors and gained many turnovers, restricting Hendford to just three goals in the second quarter.

Great vision and passes by Hazel Hucker WA into the developing shooting combination of Darcie Dunn GA and player of the match Morganne Dunn GS, left the Hendford defence on the back foot.

Superb circle movement and shooting stats gave Neptune the upper hand which they capitalised on, bringing home a resounding well-earned victory.

Venus 52, Reckleford 29

AT the end of first quarter, Venus had a confident lead - and soon, good centre court play from Chris Shaw (WA) and Olivia Shorthouse (C) allowed Venus to extend their lead against Reckleford 28-13.

In preparation for the third quarter, Chloe Trout came on and outstanding defence from Hana Middleton (GK), Mary King (GD) and player of the match Emily Rossiter (WD) allowed the lead to continue as the score read 40-23.

In the final quarter, consistent shooting from Sophie Cornish (GS) and Hannah Setter (GA) saw Venus to the win.

Mars 51, Queensway 25

WITH a few team changes, Mars hit the ground running with shots going in from all points - and the first quarter ended 12-6 to Mars.

For the final quarter, captain Hannah White set Mars the challenge of scoring 13 goals which would take the total to 50 and also only allowing the opponents two goals to keep them below half score.

Some excellent play with excellent feeds into the D from Chloe Trout saw Mars succeed in their challenge.

Mercury 41, Aldon 32

ERCURY and they started strong, with extremely tight defending from Lauren Cook (GD) and Ronnie Borowska (GK), matching Aldon for every goal to make it 7-7 the first quarter.

Mercury started the second quarter hungry for the ball and their mid-court play flowed well with some great passes between Elaine Bartlett (C) and Annia Holleron (WA), with superb support from Hollie Cornish (WD) down the court. There was some great movement around the circle to support Mercury's shooters Leah Davis (GS) and Charlotte Setter (GA) finishing the second quarter 17-17.

Aldon's shooter was on top form making it equal again 27-27 in the third quarter, but pulled away to win by nine points.
