CHARD Sunday ladies were not on their best form at the Beaminster seven-a-side friendly tournament but that didn’t stop it being an enjoyable and rewarding outing.
The first game against Wincanton saw Chard have the majority of the play.
Emma Wyatt was able to push up from defence and Ros Clemmans created several openings down the right.
Just before the end Wincanton broke from the back and slotted in what turned out to be the winning goal.
Disappointed but not downtrodden, Chard then faced the formidable Blandford team and were unable to contain them.
Despite an heroic performance from Lou Bentley in goal they lost 7-0.
The final match was much more evenly contested.
Taunton Civil service fought hard but when Charlotte Mooney passed to Lois Butcher in the D she made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
Play continued to switch from end to end play but Tess Burrows and Emma Cridland defended well to keep Chard’s lead intact.
Max Beale umpired not only Chard’s games but stepped in for other teams as well.
