Somerset County Division One West
Street Reserves 2, Burnham United 1
TEN-man Burnham United slipped to a 2-1 defeat at struggling Street Reserves, who have climbed out of the bottom three with the win.
United had their goalkeeper sent-off on 70 minutes for bringing down Street’s Robbie Ashdown, having earlier saved a penalty earlier in the game – and Matt Joyner fired home the spot-kick to give the hosts the points.
The hosts took the lead on 20 minutes when Gavin Seaward’s corner was dropped over the line – Lee Oakley smashed the ball home to make sure.
Street the failed to double their lead when Coombes’ penalty was saved – and Burnham made them pay shortly before half-time with an equaliser.
But on 70 minutes, Burnham conceded their second penalty of the afternoon and this time, Matt Joyner made no mistake to give his side the lead.
Joyner became the second player to see red moment later, when he was dismissed for a second bookable offence, but Burnham were unable to find an equaliser.
