ILMINSTER won 2-1 at Cleeve West in the eastern division of the South West women's league on Saturday.
Ilminster established early dominance and were rewarded with two well-taken goals.
The first was a brilliant near post header by Jenny Frost from a corner and the second a superb chip over the advancing keeper by Lesley Spearing.
Cleeve were awarded a penalty for handball but the shot was well saved by Abbi Bond to maintain Ilminster’s advantage at the interval.
In the second half Cleeve fought their way back into the game and reduced the arrears but from then on Ilminster’s defence held.
Player-of-the-match went to Lesley Spearing.
