THERE are no undefeated teams in the top flight of the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League with surprise leaders being GWR.

Club A had a convincing home win by 42 pins over last season’s Division 2 champions Sydenham Centre A.

One point behind in joint second spot are last season’s champions Market A with a 53-pin home win over Market D.

High individual scores included Jenny Garfield for the Market A and the D’s Cath Clark, both with 78.

Castle Club A are the other team in second spot with an easy home win over Blake Hall B, the bottom club. Star on the night and highest individual score so far this season with 80 was the Castle’s Mel Harris, with Pat Cameron hitting 68 for Blake.

In Division 2, highflyers Castle Club B had a shock defeat at Lion’s Club A who got their first points of the season in a game with never more than seven pins between the teams. Castle lost the match by just two pins with Lyn Marshal 65 top player on the alley With Castle losing, Lions Club B took advantage to move three points clear at the top of the table with a close win at bottom team White Hart B who have yet to get a point.

Highest on the alley was 17 flopper from Capt and anchor woman Carol Stoodley who included a 17 in her hand of 61, which gave the Lions a fivepin win and are now the only undefeated team in the division.

Two other sides join the Castle Club in joint second – British Flag A had a 37-pin win at New Foresters B and the Bunch of Grapes B won at home by 20 over GWR Club B.

West India House are now the only undefeated team in Division 3 following their win at lowly Lime Kiln. they pulled clear after three hands and hit the highest hand of the night 59 to win the match by ten.

Bridgwater Squib A took advantage of the Sportsman playing Mrs X and, despite losing ten on the first hand, three of their players hit merit scores as they won by 65. Their top scorer was Sue Mills 65 while Elaine Baker replied for the Sportsman with 69, the highest in the division.

Alison Modley hit 68 for Sydenham Centre B as they ran out home winners over new team Rugby Club by 40. Jan Fisher 63 top-scored for the Rugby Club.
