Sedgemoor Division 2
Burnham 6, Winscombe IV 0
BURNHAM got back to winning ways this week against a young Winscombe side.
They started strongly and never looked in any real danger of conceding.
With Emma Ballard Jenna Bushell and Sarah Johnson looking composed at the back the midfield were able to commit forward more to support the attackers.
Louise Peace combined well with Kerry Harvey for Amy Edmundson to open the scoring and this was quickly added to as Burnham slowly got into gear.
June England grabbed a quick fire brace after good work from Carly Bush down the left created the chances for her.
She could have had a hat-trick but was denied by some good goal keeping.
A quick accurate pass out from Ballard in defence found Edmundson up the centre who released a perfect ball to Harvey to slot home for Burnham's fourth.
Ellie Bishop tapped home the fifth just before half-time after super wing play by Harvey and Burnham were clear leaders at the interval.
The Blues found it hard to keep the intensity up in the second half and only added to the score line once more. Lauren Cooke and Charlotte Danks worked hard and showed good touches in and around the D, but it was Harvey who wrapped up the scoring with her second of the game.
This completed a satisfactory performance for the home side and they now have a week’s rest before their next league match.
