ILMINSTER Town aren’t fit enough to do themselves justice in the Premier Division of the Errea County league according to manager Darren Manley.

The Blues boss is becoming increasingly frustrated at the way his side runs out of steam in matches and has called on his players to show greater commitment.

Following Ilminster’s 4-1 league defeat at Clutton on Saturday Manley said: “I’m only getting two or three players turning up to training each week and that’s not good enough.

“If we were fit enough we would be a match for anybody in the league but the fact is we’re not. We’re OK for an hour or so but then we run out of steam. It was the same again on Saturday.

“However what did please me was our commitment. Unlike the week before we didn’t let our head drop and our attitude was a lot better."

After enjoying the better of the first half, when a 30 yard screamer from Alistair Boyer levelled matters on the half hour mark, the Blues were hit by injuries to Charlie Rutter and Jonny May which disrupted the side in the second half.

This Saturday Ilminster will be understrength but should still be strong enough to see off Churchill Club 70 in the Somerset Senior Cup.

Churchill Club, who play in Division 2 West of the county league, sit near the bottom of the table with just two wins from eight matches.
