Bridgwater Men’s II 3, North Wilts 1

BRIDGWATER started this game brightly and Liam Pigden hit the post in the first two minutes.

The first half saw Bridgwater enjoy a lot of possession with North Wilts looking dangerous on the break.

Bridgwater took the lead through a short corner converted by Pigden – but North Wilts responded with a short corner of their own, making it 1-1 at half time.

Bridgwater made a change to their formation at half-time and this allowed them to dominate the second half, Sean Hedaux rounding the keeper for the second and Paul Tilley flicking a short corner, giving Bridgwater all three points.

Bridgwater III 2, Chard A 1

THE game started at a good pace with Chard creating the early chances.

Chard then took the lead with a brilliant goal the defence and keeper Brandon Durkin could do nothing about.

The second half began with Bridgwater starting to push and the midfield of Ben Lewis, Andy Cook, Matt Hubbard and Jo Syvret starting to run the show.

Bridgwater then got their reward when a nice move from Andy Cook and Matt Hubbard found Rich Payne in the D who beat the defender and slashed a shot home to level things up.

This seemed to give Bridgwater another gear and they took the lead with another good team goal. Jordan Rawles found Rich Payne, who crossed across the pitch to find Matt Hubbard, to flick the ball into the goal for 2-1.

Bridgwater Ladies II 1, Taunton Vale III 3

TAUNTON started the stronger team and were able to force a goal to take a 1-0 lead into half-time.

The second half saw Bridgwater rattle the Vale team with player of the match Heather Tinkler leading the chase – a corner completely against the run of play saw Vale score a second.

Kate England, however, along with forwards Karen Chilcott, Megan Weston were determined and won several corners which Kate was able to convert to bring the score to 2-1.

Bridgwater were looking strong but just couldn’t make the most of their possession in the attacking D.

An injury to Emma Hill momentarily caused a loss of concentration and in the final seconds of the game Vale won a corner from which they were able to bundle in another goal.
