Bridgwater Town 1, Didcot Town 2

BRIDGWATER Town finished on the wrong end of a 2-1 result for the second week running as Didcot Town fought back from 1-0 down to take the spoils at Fairfax Park on Saturday, writes Eddie Robinson.

Tom Knighton had fired the Robins into the lead on the half hour mark, but goals either side of half-time completed the Didcot fight back and secured all three points for the visitors.

Didcot gave an early glimpse of their potential when a swift breakaway ended with Mills, the league's leading scorer, shooting over.

Bridgwater responded with Griffiths winning the ball in midfield before setting up Tooze, whose shot was just wide.

The home side were beginning to enjoy more possession and time in the visitor's half, but Didcot carried the greater threat with their passing to feet - and Bridgwater needed Scott Thomas, their man of the match, to make a goal line clearance to keep it level.

After a mistake from Rudge, Grimshaw bailed out his fellow defender with a great tackle.

At the other end, Tooze fired just wide having beaten two defenders, before Bushin's through ball found Knighton, who finished superbly to give the hosts the lead on 32 minutes.

It seemed that Bridgwater would take the lead into the break, but in added time, Didcot scrambled home an equaliser courtesy of Longford.

Thomas' header from a corner was headed away from under the bar as the Robin's searched for a second, but Didcot were beginning to take charge - and when Elkin's cross found Longford, he headed Didcot in front on 57 minutes.

Now encouraged, Didcot were looking the likely to get the next vital goal and Allward and John combined to keep out Mill, whilst Carmell headed over from a corner.

With the midfield tiring after getting through a lot of hard work against a robust Didcot side, it was area that manager Richard fey freshened up with a series of substitutions.

In the last five minutes, Bridgwater gave their all in searching for an equaliser, but it wasn't to be for the hosts, who left empty handed.
