Jupiter 56, Devizes 47

JUPITER gained their revenge on Devizes with a nine-point victory on Sunday.

Devizes had already beaten them twice this season, but Jupiter started strong and controlled with every player working out Devizes game plan and adjusting their play to limit the oppositions chances.

Well-timed interceptions from Lisa Durant (GK) allowed Jupiter to take the lead 15-12 at the end of the first quarter. Despite some team errors during the second quarter, Jupiter did not switch off.

Their determination and steady but committed play enabled Paige Davey (GS) to demonstrate how effective she is, missing only six goals for the first three quarters of the game helping them to be 42-36 in the lead, ready for the last quarter. Great all round performances from all seven players ensured that Devizes were always on the back foot during this quarter.

The circle defence turned over the play and the attacking unit safely delivered the ball down the court for the shooters to capitalise.

Jupiter won the game 56-47 with Paige Davey being the well deserved player of the match.

Saturn 42, Wyndham 32

SATURN’S second away fixture against Wyndham of Yeovil saw them return a ten-point victory.

With both teams fighting against the windy conditions and having to adapt their game the first quarter finished a close 9-10 to Saturn.

The second quarter saw some excellent play by defending trio Emma Cocks, Sally Haysham and player of the match Rachel Simpson, which resulted in Wyndham scoring only two goals and a half time score of 11-20 to Saturn. A change to Wyndham’s shooting duo for the third quarter boosted their game and despite superb shooting by Becky Palmer and Sarah Perry Wyndham matched Saturn on goals. The final quarter Michelle Stone and Karis Holleron worked very hard to bring the ball safely down the court resulting in a full time score of 42-32 to Saturn.

Mars 26, Monmouth 46

IT was a tricky afternoon for Mars against a tough opponent, as they slipped to a 20-point defeat.

At the end of the first quarter it was 16-6 to Monmouth - and during the second and third quarters changes were made that left Mars feeling confident that they could bring it back.

Great defence from Chloe Trout, Mary King and Emily Rossiter brought turn over after turn over, to bring the ball down the court.

Olivia Shorthouse and Elaine Bartlett continued to pass accurately into the circle to Darcie Dunn and Sophie Cornish who were able to make use of the turn overs the defenders made.
