THE last of the men's knockouts at Enmore Park was contested by big hitting Callum Tompkins and steady Scott Bovington.

Callum, being a fair weather golfer, had a bad start arriving with no waterproofs and not looking forward to the prospect of 36 holes in poor conditions.

Scott wasn't fazed by the rain like big hitting Callum and took the first two holes, but Callum steadied himself and was only one down at lunch.

With the weather improving, so did Callum's golf and he triumphed 2&1.

Slocombe with Brian Parker and Peter Hamshere with Roger Pond leaving the final score 6 matches to 2 in Long Ashton's favour.

The twisting journey to Crediton for the inaugural fixture between the two clubs fared a little better but the home team ran out winners by 5 matches to 3.
