THE Professional’s Open Day – celebrating Simon Stevenson’s 10 years at Taunton & Pickeridge – attracted a record 156 players.

Members and visitors alike enjoying a great day with excellent prizes, beat the pro contest as well as on-course prizes.

The winning team on the day were T&P members, father and son partnership Steve and Josh Sloman with 45 points.

Son Josh birdied the last in the final group of the day to win.

Second place went to Will Parkman, the 2014 T&P Club Champion and Klayton Butland (Vivary GC) with 44 points.

Two teams returned with 43 points but after countback it was Mark Newman (T&P) and G Stagg (Vivary GC) who claimed third spot just ahead of C Lockwood and C Pantol (East Devon GC).

The best mixed team were Maggie and Alan Palmer with 37 points, who only recently joined T&P and were playing their first game.

Saturday’s Stableford was won by Glenn Brooks with 40 points, Mike Elkington was second 39 and Peter Betteridge was third with 37.

The first division of the midweek stableford was won by Alistair Johnston with 39 points.

Steve Sloman was second with 36 but only after countback put him in front of Kieren Buckley.

Division Two was won by Ryan Potter with 36 points, Lee Tomkins was second with 33, just ahead of Colin Gudge on countback who ended with the same score.

Ali McGown and Margaret Farley took the top slots in their respective Divisions at Tuesday’s Ladies Stableford Competition in perfect late summer conditions at Taunton & Pickeridge, both scoring an impressive 37 points. Carol Keenan finished closely behind Ali in the Silver Division with 36 points, while it was all very tight in the Bronze Division with Theresa Dowsett, Sheila Beresford and Pauline Codd battling out for the honours with 35 points each.
