Burnham 62, Bude 10
BURNHAM scored nine tries on their way to a 62-10 demolition of Bude on Saturday.
Tom Chaffey and Richard Muskett grabbed two tries apiece, while Elisi Vunipola, Hayden Tuttiett, Russell Pike, Stuart Blake and Blake Fear added further tries.
Burnham got underway straight from the kick-off as Vunipola released Piper, who in turn sent Chaffey into the clear.
Chaffey kicked the ball ahead before gathering cleanly to touch down for the game’s opening score.
Piper added a penalty and Chaffey then turned provider as he sent Vunipola away to score.
Hayden Tuttiett was at his sniping best, and after spotting a gap in the Bude defence the scrum-half ghosted through to score his side’s third.
Muskett glided in under the posts to secure the bonus point and the flood gates soon opened for Burnham.
Chaffey scored his second following good work from the pack, and Muskett completed his brace not long after.
Russell Pike slid in for a seventh Burnham try on the hour and Stuart Blake added another to his growing tally for the season.
Blake Fear completed the scoring in the dying minutes as Burnham secured a 19th win of the season and climbed to third place in the table.
With two games remaining a play-off spot remains a possibility for Burnham, who trail second-placed Truro by five points.
However, their final two fixtures see them take on leaders Ivybridge twice in three days on Saturday, April 19, and Monday, April 21.
