IN Division One of the Taunton & District Saturday Football League, leaders Highbridge Town had a convincing 4-0 victory over Staplegrove Reserves to stay top with a game in hand over Bridgwater Sports.
Middlezoy Rovers Reserves were 3-0 winners over Locomotives, courtesy of three well worked goals.
North Petherton scored after 10 minutes through Shane Jolly against Alcombe Rovers, then defended like their lives depended on it.
Bridgwater Sports won 2-1 away at Porlock, while Bishops Lydeard beat Hamilton Hawks 3-1.
Blagdon Hill won the first silverware of the season as they beat Stogursey 2-1 in the Knock-Out Cup final on Tuesday night (April 8).
In Division Two, Wyvern won a scrappy game against Watchet 2-1 despite being reduced to ten men in the second half, and Minehead won the West Somerset derby against Dulverton 6-2.
Blagdon Hill have 11 games in hand on the leaders and their opponents Appletree Tone Youth, but two goals from Pat Sherwood gave them a 2-0 victory and all they have to do is win those spare games to take the lead as they are only 19 points behind.
The local rivalry between Stogursey and Nether Stowey remained with no bragging rights as neither could break down the other’s defences, ending the game goalless.
There was another draw in the division with Watchet and Westonzoyland.

Second placed Woolavington made no mistakes in their comprehensive 7-0 victory over Sampford Blues Reserves and Norton Fitzwarren beat North Petherton Reserves 3-1.
In Division Five, Staplegrove Colts won 6-3 against Galmington Dragons Reserves and Wiveliscombe stay level with Staplegrove but ahead on goal difference after a 4-1 win at Morganians Reserves.
East Bower beat Middlezoy Athletic 3-0, Creech Cougars and Bridgwater Wolves drew 1-1, and Ash Rangers were 8-1 winners at Hamilton Athletic Foxes.
