Somerset County League First Division

Middlezoy Rovers 3, Broad Plain House 2

MIDDLEZOY ended Broad Plain House’s unbeaten run of over 30 league games with an outstanding performance all round.

Top-of-the-table Broad Plain took just four minutes to find the net when Ben Crewe took advantage of some slack defending from the home side.

Middlezoy centre back Lance Turner equalised on 22 minutes with a looping shot from the edge of the area.

Broad Plain restored their advantage on 26 when Georgio Mancini's deflected effort crept in.

The home side were once again level on 31 when Craig Wright raced clear to slot home past the keeper.

An even half ended with nothing to choose between the sides.

Middlezoy goal keeper Steve Baker made a terrific save to keep out Aaron Selby on 61 minutes and Stuart Jenkins did likewise in the Broad Plain goal from a Carl Tucker effort.

Middlezoy wasted a guilt edge chance minutes later, but found the winner on 82 when Sam Peppin squared to Craig Wright who knocked the ball in from close range.

Star man: Carl Tucker (Middlezoy).
