England College Football Association National Cup Round 2

Coleg Sir Gar 0, Bridgwater College Elite Men's Football 1

BRIDGWATER College Elite Men's Football progressed to the third round of the ECFA National Cup competition after an excellent 1-0 victory over their Welsh counterparts.

The game started at a frantic pace with Bridgwater dominating early possession and matching Coleg Sir Gar's physical approach to the game.

After 35 minutes it was the influential Chamberlain whose close control in the box saw him cynically tripped and he stepped up to confidently convert the resultant penalty.

Bridgwater's dominance continued into the second half as they displayed their technical and tactical superiority through their expansive style of play.

As Coleg Sir Gar began to lose their discipline, Anthony and then Villis both missed good chances to seal the victory, before two quick dismissals saw the Welsh team reduced to nine men for the closing stages.

Bridgwater comfortably saw out the remaining minutes of the game and progressed through to face Exeter College in the third round of a national cup.

Luke Buckingham Men's Elite Football Head Coach said “it was an excellent team performance and it was pleasing to see us play some attractive football whilst standing up to a strong physical test. We have a young squad this year and experiences like these are invaluable in our player's long-term development.”
