Jupiter secure league victory

Bridgwater Jupiter 38, Old Chelts 37
JUPITER travelled to Gloucester to play Old Chelts determined to gain their first win of the season.
Excellent, quick play from Baylea Charles (C) meant that Jupiter finished the first quarter leading 12-7.
Fantastic defensive play by the whole team and Sammy Woolacott (WD) in particular, allowed them to remain in the lead at half time. The score was 21-17.
In the second half, Old Chelts came back with some strong play. However, outstanding shooting from Paige Davey (GS) and Becky Palmer (GA) meant Jupiter could remain in the lead and the third quarter ended closely, 30- 8.
In the final quarter, Amy Shaw (WA) and Baylea Charles (C) battled to bring the ball down to Jupiter’s attack to ensure they scored from each centre pass.
Lisa Durant (GK) and Becky Cowley (GD) worked tirelessly to put pressure on the Old Chelt's shooters.
Jupiter remained determined right up until the final whistle, and finally gained a well deserved win.

Saturn 34, Vivary 45
SATURN started well against Vivary with great defence from Emma Downes (GD) meaning Vivary only led by three goals at the end of the first quarter.
Strong, consistent shooting from Katy Cheese in the second quarter pulled Saturn back into the game leading 20-19 at half-time but went into the final quarter trailing.
However, despite fantastic turn overs and smooth court play, Saturn to unable to conquer Vivary.

Neptune 35, Tone 36
NEPTUNE fought a closely-contested match with Taunton’s Tone who edged the first half 19-17.
Changes were made at half time and then with some excellent play from player of the match Dawn Fothergill, Neptune were up 27-26 at three-quarter time.
Despite good defending from Annia Holleron and Bex Dun, Neptune made a couple of mistakes which the Tone team utilised to score.
Mars 38, Quantock 56
MARS battled well against Quantock. During the first half they played convincingly with on target shooting from Kayleigh Haste and Morganne Dunn and some great passing into them by Cath Clark (C) and Elaine Bartlett (WA).
Alisha Gardener (WD) defended all the way down the court with some excellent tips.
Throughout the match Saskia Middleton (GD) and Mary King (GK) worked very well as a team in the circle, putting pressure on the opposition shooters.

Mercury 24, Minstrels 36
THE first quarter was played brilliantly by Mercury with Emily Harwood (GK) and Victoria Saban (GD) working extremely hard in defence and Jess Webb (C) and Olivia Shorthouse (WA) working together well to bring the ball up the court.
Everyone worked tirelessly in the last quarter giving their best but unfortunately it was not enough.
