FA Trophy Preliminary Round replay
Bridgwater Town 3 Chalfont St Peter 3 AET (Bridgwater Town win 5-3 on penalties)
BRIDGWATER Town booked their place in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy in dramatic fashion - beating Chalfont St Peter 5-3 on penalties at Fairfax Park on Tuesday night (October 8).
The Robins put in a flawless display in the shoot-out, scoring all five kicks after the sides were level at 3-3 after extra-time.
Joe Bushin put Town in front on the half hour mark, before two quick-fire Chalfont St Peter goals gave the visitors the lead early in the second-half.
Dean Griffiths hit back almost immediately for Bridgwater to send the tie into extra-time, but Chalfont retook the lead early in the first period.
The game's end-to-end theme continued as Daine O'Connor equalised for Richard Fey's men with a neat finish.
Bridgwater had a chance to win the game in the dying minutes when they were awarded a penalty, but the chance was squandered and the tie headed into a shootout.
The hosts were in sublime form from the spot and netted all five to secure their place in the next round.
Bridgwater Town will travel to Weymouth in the First Qualifying Round on Saturday October 19, but first up is this weekend's FA Cup clash with Bath City. The action gets under way at 3pm at Fairfax Park.
