Bushin brace fires Town to comfortable win

Calor Southern League Division 1 S&W
Cirencester 1, Bridgwater Town 4
BRIDGWATER Town continued their impressive start to the season with a 4-1 victory at Cirencester on Saturday.
Goals from Joe Bushin (2), Jon Vance and Daine O’Connor sealed victory for Richard Fey’s men, as the Robins retained their spot at the top of the table.
Fey was once again delighted with his side’s display and says they thoroughly deserved the victory. He said: “It was a hard game and I’m glad I went and watched them on Tuesday night because we knew we had to deal with their set pieces and long throws into our box and the players were superb.
“We full deserved the win and we just need to keep doing the right things and keep picking up points.”
Both Cirencester and Bridgwater had won both their opening games of the season but it was the visitors who proved the stronger side on Saturday afternoon with a clinical display.
It was Town who took the lead early on in this contest, as the alert Bushin latched on to a Middleton free-kick to coolly slot home from 16 yards.
Cirencester pushed for an equaliser and drew level on 42 minutes with a goal from Murfoud.
But they weren’t level for long as Town retook the lead in first-half stoppage time, as Vance converted from the penalty spot following a foul just inside the area.
Two minutes into the second half, the Robins put the game to bed with a third; Vance, impressive all afternoon, found Bushin with a pinpoint pass and the striker drilled home to notch his second of the game.
With the final whistle looming, substitute Daine O’Connor made it 4-1 with a quite brilliant strike curling into the top corner from all of 15 yards to give Bridgwater all three points and keep them top of the league.
Cirencester finished the game with nine men as Shepherd and Beeden were both given their marching orders in the closing stages.
