FOOTBALL: Toolstation Division 1 - Wells City 0, Wellington 1
10:42am Friday 16th August 2013 in Somerset Sport
WELLINGTON continued with their winning start to the league season with a Conor Bryant strike being the winner midway through the first half.
It was an unchanged team which started the game and, after a comfortable start, it was Wells who had the first chances with two set-peices causing problems the first a corner and then a free-kick.
Midway through the first half, Chamberlain got to the by-line and pulled back it and Bryant drilled it in to give Wellington the lead.
Bryant had another chance just before half time but dragged it agonisingly past the post.
The second half saw Wellington well organised and difficult to break down and Viney had little to deal with in goal. As the game came to the end, Chamberlain had a shot deflected past the post by Piper.
Wellington had a scare when Holmes, who had just come on, put in a hard tackle and was booked. Wells kept on the pressure but Wellington battled to the end to get their second victory and keep their 100 per cent record.
Wellington – Viney, Bryant, Porter, Legg, Ellis, Dennehy (Bryant J 75m), Ford, Bryant, Holmes 45m), Piper, Chamberlain (Duchenski 85m), Westlake.
