SWIMMING: Minehead and West Somerset make winning start
MINEHEAD and West Somerset began their defence of the Cotswold series with a win by seven points at Eason Leisure Centre, Bristol.
A closely-fought round saw Minehead against a strong line-up from Burnham and teams from Lydney and Bristol North.
As part of the local ASA Swimming Network, the club also links with swimmers from Taunton Deane Swimming Club.
Several swimmers from both clubs made their team debut on Saturday and recorded some excellent swims.
There were strong ‘signature’ swims from Alice Duffield, Laura Hill and Karl Bryant who has only recently returned to competitive swimming.
The team can now look forward to the next round of the competition at Wellington on Saturday week (March 16) when they will take on Wellington, Cinderford and Bristol Henleaze.
Personal bests were achieved by Rebecca Ansell, Heidi Atkins, Alex Attwell, Chris Clavey, Tarsha Coleman, Tom Coward, Harriet Criddle, George Day, Christian Fieldhouse, Cara Hawker, Sam Milliship and Tilly Phillips.
