Central Division
Bridgwater Ladies 1st 2, Sidmouth and Ottery 1st 2
BRIDGWATER Ladies knew this would be a tough fixture like the first meeting earlier in the season.
They started strongly and pressured the Sidmouth defence with a free flowing attack and plenty of energy from the midfield. After a couple of penalty corners without success, a Sidmouth foot stopped the ball on the line and Sheila Burridge converted the penalty stroke.
The second half saw Sidmouth come out with determination and this paid off as they scored twice from open play. Bridgwater weren't deterred and near misses from Lorraine Hollidge and Heidi Martin kept their confidence high. A Sheila Burridge dribble on the right found Kira Gardener who slotted home Bridgwater's second and the game ended a 2-2 draw.
Player of the match was Charlie Lewis.
Sedgemoor Division 1
Bridgwater Ladies 2nds 1, Cheddar 1st 8
WITH Bridgwater newly promoted this season and already having been beaten at home by Cheddar, there was a real air of determination within the squad.
The team plan held well for the first ten mins with Julie Morrish defending well. However, Cheddar did manage to slot a couple of goals past the defence.
At half time, captain Julie Morrish called for more confidence and discipline and this came when a drive initiated by Nikki Gill led to Megan Weston passing across goal for Daisy Goldsmith to score her first goal.
Unfortunately, Cheddar ran riot in the latter stages of the match.
Player of the match was shared between Julie Morrish and Miche Evans.
South East 2
Bridgwater Mens 3rds 4, Isca 5ths 1
IN the early exchanges ISCA pushed hard to score, but the defence of Scott Upham, Lee Chorley and Andy Cook held firm with Mark Hutter sweeping up anything that got past them in goal.
The introduction of man of the match Dan Batten changed the game as his reverse hit from a tight angle went in off the post and then he soon doubled Bridgwater's tally from a goal line scramble.
In the second half it was Steve Turvey who delivered two goals. The first was a cross from the right which went into the bottom corner of the goal and then his second was a well hit finish.
South East 3
Chard 3rd 1, Bridgwater Mens 4th 3
BRIGDWATER recorded their fifth straight win away from home against a spirited Chard team.
But they had to wait until the 20th minute to open the scoring through Sean Hedaux, before Steve Pigden added a second just before half time.
Chard started the second half brightly and defenders Steve Morrish and Matt Hubbard were called into action and made a number of key interceptions.
As the game wore on, midfield trio Ali Cook, Dan Pigden and man of the match Billy Vickery started to dominate and their persistence was rewarded with Joe Syvret's first senior goal.
