Football: Taunton Ladies lose out
6:00pm Thursday 14th February 2013 in Somerset Sport
TAUNTON Town Ladies hosted fellow strugglers Launceston on the 3G pitch at The Castle School due to Launceston’s pitch being unplayable and lost by the only goal of the game.
Taunton were without their captain, with Hannah Forse deputising to lead the team. They settled well, utilising their close control and passing ability on the pitch that has been gained through training indoors this season. Taunton adapted to the quick pitch and passed the ball around well. Launceston showed no contest for Taunton who just lacked the final ball to beat the keeper.
Taunton were extremely unlucky to fall behind to a Launceston free kick, with an error from the keeper gifting them a goal. This was Launceston’s one and only shot, with Taunton dominating the game.
Time began to run out for Taunton and, despite everyone’s best efforts to push forward, Launceston put all players behind the ball and defended well to deny Taunton the opportunity to shoot.
It was a very disappointing result from what was the best football Taunton Town have played in a long time. Player of the match was Chloe Davis.
There are lots of positives to get from the game, but Taunton must now pick themselves up as they travel to top-of-the-league Bay on Sunday.
