Bridgwater Town manager Kevin Milsom calls for positive approach

BRIDGWATER Town boss Kevin Milsom is asking his players to take the game to in-form Yate when they visit Fairfax Park tonight (February 5).

Town have not played in almost a month and will begin to claw back playing time against the Gloucestershire outfit tonight – if the rain holds off.

Saturday’s home tie with Abingdon was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, but club officials are hopeful of getting the surface ready for tonight’s 7.45pm kick-off.

And Milsom says he’s confident his side can get the three points if they play to their potential.

He said: “We’re going to go out there and play the way we always do and that’s to win. We don’t want players coming here to play and hold anything back.

“We believe football should be played in the right manner, pass it on the floor and don’t be negative and hopefully if we do that we can get a win.”

But it’s not going to be easy for the hosts as their opponents come into the game on the back of a 6-1 win over Winchester.

Milsom added: “Yate are on an unbelievable run and they’ve not lost in however many games so it’s going to be tough but a good challenge.

“It will be good to play. The lack of games is getting frustrating and a bit stupid now.”

Groundsmen have been digging holes this week in a bid to drain surface water from the pitch.

Club secretary Roger Palmer said: “Their work has given us a better chance of tonight’s game going ahead, provided we have no more rain.”
