Berrow 1, Shirehampton 1

BERROW gained a hard earned point against a good Shirehampton side to extend their lead at the top of the league.

The home side settled into the game and started to threaten with Ellis Harper working well down the left winning a free kick.

Stand-in skipper Luke McErlain sent a dangerous ball into the box which was hacked away for a corner and from McErlains corner Harry Penfold nodded in from six yards.

It could have been two moments later when a clever free kick from McErlain found Green one-on-one with the keeper but his effort trickled wide.

Penfold and Kyle McErlain making superb blocks as the defence held firm but Shirehampton finally forced an equaliser in the final minute of the half.

Berrow suffered a further blow at half time with Kyle McErlain had to be replaced with a head injury.

Steve osgood continued his return from injury and in a defensive re-shuffle put in a good display at sweeper.

Jack radford had the first chance of the half firing over from the edge of the box as both teams continued to defend well.

Connor watts replaced Green and his pace caused concern but too often the deteriorating pitch meant that the final ball was not what it could have been.

The game became a scrappy midfield battle with Scott Lismore impressing when moved more centrally.

Ian Bellinger made his return having been unavailable since November replacing Radford but neither side could force a winner.

Man of the match was Pete John sponsored by PW john and co accountants. Match ball sponsor Bristol Bridge Inn.
