FOOTBALL matches bore the brunt of the arctic weather conditions as the majority of them were postponed.

Bridgwater Town had both their Southern League Division South and West matches against North Leigh and Mangotsfield United called off.

They will now hope to get back playing tonight (Tuesday) in the re-arranged match at Mangotsfield for a 7.45pm kick off, weather permitting. Then this weekend they are home to Poole Town.

In the Somerset County League, Bridgwater Town Reserves' match at home to Odd Down Reserves had to be cancelled as Fairfax Park was blanketed under several centimetres of snow.

Middlezoy Rovers were hoping to welcome Portishead Town Reserves until their match was postponed.

They have not had a game since January 5 and will have to wait until this Saturday for a clash with Burnham United Reserves for their next chance of a game.

In the Taunton and District League, no games were played bringing the total number of postponed matches this season up to around 150 with the prospect of further matches falling foul to the weather over the coming weeks.

The Uxella Bridgwater Sunday League was also victim to the sub-zero temperatures and none of the scheduled matches survived.
