Highbridge Town and Predators round-up
HIGHBRIDGE Town’s hopes of Somerset Junior Cup glory were dashed on Saturday when they were beaten 2-1 at home to Bishops Lydeard Reserves.
Rich Probert scored for Town but Dave Richardson and Simon Littlewood replied for Lydeard in one of only three games which survived the weather.
In the Taunton & District Saturday League, Highbridge Reserves’ Division 3 fixture at Bishop’s Hull was rained-off.
On Saturday, Highbridge will be hoping to kick-start their Division 1 season when they travel to face fellow strugglers Alcombe Rovers.
Highbridge have yet to win a game in the division this season but a couple of victories could see them out of the relegation zone.
Predators return to league action with a home game against third-from-bottom Dulverton Town.
In Division 3, Highbridge Reserves will have their work cut out to register their first win of the season when they entertain high-scoring Merry Monk, who sit in second place.
