FOOTBALL: Minehead must maintain momentum

MINEHEAD face stiff opposition on Saturday in the form of Street reserves, who will no doubt still be smarting from their 4-0 defeat at Watchet.

The reserves face the return match against Sydenham Rangers, who will also be all out for revenge of last week’s thrashing.

Damion Redman will hopefully return to the first team squad after illness kept him out of the Ilminster match.

The first team will need to call on further squad members from January 16 when Chris Yeates (four matches) and Martyn Phillips (two matches) start suspensions following sendings off in the Watchet game.

With the league interestingly poised (there are still at least a dozen clubs who will feel a good run could put them into the top four), Minehead will need to keep their own run going to stay there.

By way of example, if the result goes Blues’ way on Saturday they could be elevated to second place; however if it goes badly they could be dumped back down to sixth position.
