Somerset 2S
Burnham II 10, Cheddar Valley 48
BURNHAM were put under considerable pressure by Cheddar as they fell to a 48-10 defeat to their second placed opponents.
As the game moved out of the first quarter a missed tackle saw Cheddar open the scoring which saw the team lose their composure and concede another two tries.
Burnham then settled down and refocused and after putting the visitors under pressure, forced a penalty which Ben Gibb slotted over.
Unfortunately the story of the second half was similar to that of the first and the scoreline did not do justice to the effort and cohesive play put together by Burnham.
To Burnham’s credit they did not give up and in the closing stages a kick pass by Will Conway saw Ginge and Bobbie Hewitt race to touchdown, which was converted by Ben Gibb.
Next week, the team are at home to Tor.
