Dukes 36, Rubies 45

WITH another change in the line up for Rubies the team set out to play Dukes from Tor for the 2nd time this season. It was a slow start for both teams, who were hampered by the weather. Dukes took an early lead but Rubies were able to pull it back leading 13-11 at the end of the first quarter. Kerry Clark at centre linked well with Emma Brown, and Paige Pople and Lynne Cornish worked hard to receive their passes into the circle. Mistakes on both sides kept the score close at half time 23 -20 to Rubies.

Excellent defending by Sandy Hocking and Laura Coombes kept the Dukes shooters working hard. Alex Williams made good tips and marked extremely well, with Rubies taking advantage of their opponents errors, enabling Rubies to extend their lead to 37 - 28 at end of third quarter. In the final quarter everyone went out full throttle. Rubies connected well as a team and it was a real team effort from the defence to the centre Court to the shooting end. Rubies pulled ahead and kept their lead winning 45 -36. Player of the match was Lynne Cornish
