Saturn 46, Gems 53

BRIDGWATER Saturn hosted Sydenham Gems in this derby on Saturday (November 5).

The teams were closely matched and with accurate shooting from Katy Cheese (GS) and Becky Palmer (GA), the teams were tied 25-all at half time.

The third quarter saw the visitors capitalise on a few Saturn errors to pull away.

However Saturn, showing outstanding determination and team spirit, rallied through player of the match Sammy Woolacott (c) and Lisa Phillips (WA).

The third quarter determined the result and Gems won 53-46.

Neptune 55, Rubies 50

NEPTUNE started off their campaign against Rubies in a fighting spirit and led at half time 24-33.

Strong accurate shooting from Rachael Selway (GA) and Lianne Forthergill (GS) saw Neptune pull away.

Good feeding into the attacking circle from Karis Holleron and Chris Durant made it even easier.

The last quarter saw Neptune nearly lose all they worked for but the defence of Katie Chedzey (GK), Emma Downes (GD) and Zoe Ingram (WD) managed to keep Neptune from defeat.

Mars 42, Emeralds 34

IT was a tough game to start with Mars having a two goal lead at the end of the first quarter.

Through great feeding into the circle from Chris Shaw (WA) and accurate shooting from Kayleigh Haste (GS), Mars found their feet and pushed ahead leading at half time by three.

Mars worked well as a team with amazing defence from Megan Smith (WD) who intercepted nearly every centre pass and Courtney Steele (C) making some good turnovers.

Storming ahead with a seven goal lead, Saskia Middleton (GA) and Mary King (GK) continued to put great pressure on Emeralds. Player of the match: Megan Smith

Mercury 70, Garnets 27

MERCURY dominated Garnets from the start leading the first quarter 20-8 with some accurate shooting from Morganne Dunn (GS).

Constant attacking from Norah Lewis (GA), Elaine Bartlett (WA) and Lily Rowland (C) led to a first half lead of 36-13.

Injury meant a change to the team and Alisha Gardener came on as Centre.

Victoria Saban (GD), Lucy Brown (GK) and Julie McClean (WD) kept up a strong defence and for the final quarter Lucy Kyte came on helping Mercury secure victory.
