Yeovil and Sherborne 1, Bridgwater Men 1sts 3
BRIDGWATER built on last week’s promising performance to pick up their first away points of the season.
The visitors took the lead when quick passing throughout the team led to Woolmington sliding the ball in to the D and Lott got the faintest of touches to divert the ball past the goalkeeper.
Yeovil and Sherborne got an equaliser but heads did not drop and mid-way through the half Bridgwater regained their lead, when 15-year-old debutant Liam Pigden forced a penalty corner which Lott put away with a low flick.
Lott’s hot form saw his hat-trick soon after a Sullivan long range ball found Taylor who passed to Lott unmarked to make it 3-1.
In the second half, there were several good tackles from Upham, Dyte and Jenkins to limit the chances for Yeovil and the game ended 3-1 to the visitors.
Man of the match: Tom Lott.
South East 2
Mid Somerset 2nd 4, Bridgwater Men 3rd 2
BRIDGWATER travelled to MidSomerset, the team who joined them on nine points at the top of the table.
Mid-Somerset scored two early goals, and it stayed 2-0 until after half time when Bridgwater scored the next two, coming through Rich Payne and Paul Bond.
Bridgwater went on to concede another two goals.
South East 3
ISCA 6th 0, Bridgwater Men 4th 1 T
HE visitors started the game well creating a couple of early chances with Davidge going close and Joe Syvret narrowly missing.
Alan Baldwin, James Kettlewell, Max Syvret and Steve Morrish kept ISCA at bay and Jack Syvret, Steve Pigden, Marcus Blyth, Will Baldwin with Sean Hedaux complemented both attack and defence well along with a very pacey Billy Vickery who kept Bridgwater attacks alive in both halves of the game as the first half ended goalless.
The winning goal came in the second half from Marcus Blyth who swept home following a Billy Vickery run down the right and Jack Syvret injecting the ball into the box.
It was the team’s first win since February 2011.
Man of the match: Billy Vickery
South East 3
Bridgwater Men 5th 2, Yeovil & Sherborne 4
THE home side took the lead when Stuart Puplett fended off a heavy challenge from the Yeovil keeper, with the ball falling to James Facey who scored from the edge of the D.
Yeovil grabbed an equaliser and scored two more before Sam Beasley pulled a goal back, appearing at the far post to bundle the ball home.
Bridgwater’s man of the match was Brad Palmer.
