TIVERTON BMX Club took round six of the South-West regional summer series by storm as they gained eight first-place A final results on their home track.
A great day of racing saw the best turnout in the series, including lots of new novice riders.
Ryan O’Loughlin, a feisty little rider, jumped the double and led the way from start to finish in the six and under class.
Josh Coppin followed with another first in the seven year age group followed by Eddie Moore in the ten year group, continuing the find run of A final results.
Elliott Norrish took first in the ten year B final followed by another one spot in the male 11 group for Todd Rattue, who had his best racing day this season.
Josh Moore took a fall in his motos but still managed fifth place against a tight group of 12 riders in the male 12 year group.
Great racing from 12-year-old Bethan Hallett saw her take second place in the male 13 group.
Robbi Knapton had to settle for eighth place in the male 14 group followed by Sam Hann battling the day out to take the two spot in an intense band of male 15 riders.
Ben Blake managed third place despite a heavy fall in the male 16 group followed by a seventh place for his sister Shannon in the female ten to 12 section.
Elly Skinner ended the day with a first in the female 16 and overs, racking up a great set of results for the dominant junior team.
The male 25-plus round saw three Tiverton riders battle it out, with Pete Moore first, Darren Flint second and Ian Wheeler seventh.
Wheeler went on to take first in the cruiser 25 to 29 group.
Christ Hibbert took seventh in the cruiser 40-plus group and Paula Hallett had to settle for fifth in the ladies’ 25 and over category.
A surge of novice riders descended on the Tiverton track, with Harry Hurley earning a well-deserved third place in the six and under group.
He was followed by Jamie Phillips-Charles, who took seventh place in the seven to nine novice race.
Scott Jenkins led the way from the start to take first, with Conor Dedames in close pursuit earning a well-fought third in the group of ten to 12-year-olds.
The 13 to 15 year old group saw Tom Hallett having to settle for ninth against some very fast novices, with Amy Hallett taking second spot in the 16-plus race.
There was some great riding from the novices, many of whom were racing for the first but hopefully not the last time.
