MORE than 1,300 boys and girls from Devon, Cornwall and Somerset descended on Tiverton to play in the annual Moors Youth Football Tournament.
The six-a-side event was held at Tiverton High School for the first time and proved to be an overwhelming success It showcased the depth of talent in Mid Devon, with eight of the 12 finals contested by teams from the area.
With the event attracting nearly 170 teams and 2,500 visitors Tournament organiser Craig Holmes thanked the sponsors for their support, the school for the use of their facilities and all the volunteers.
Tournament finalists: under-7s – 1 Moors Youth, 2 Twyford Spartans; under-8s – 1 Twyford Spartans, 2 AEK Boco A; under-9s – 1 Moors Youth, 2 Exwick; under-10s – 1 Plymstock United Colts, 2 Twyford Spartans A; under-11s – Tiverton Town, 2 Moors Youth; under-11s girls – 1 Ashmore, 2 Bishops Lydeard; under-12s – 1 Buckland Athletic, 2 Brixington Blues; under-13s – 1 Twyford Spartans, 2 Moors Youth; under-13s girls – 1 Bishops Lydeard, 2 Exmouth Amateur; under-14s – 1 Twyford Spartans, 2 Newton Abbot Dynamoes; under-15s – 1 Kentisbeare, 2 Saltash; under-16s – 1 Plymstock United Colts, 2 Heavitree.
