TOM Evans cruised to victory in the Lombard Classic by a four point margin.

Evans, who has been out of form for much of the last few months returned a score of 40 points.

He birdied the 13th during an impressive back nine and was the only player to return a better than par score.

The left-hander will now join Padbrook professional Stuart Disney in the regional final of the event at Burnham & Berrow in the summer.

The overall final will take place at Gleneagles.

Gary Lewis took second spot with 36. That was one ahead of Steve Held who was left frustrated at dropping four shots in the last four holes. He had registered a birdie on the par five 6th hole.

Lombard Classic: 1 T Evans 40pts, 2 G Lewis 36, 3 S Held 35, 4 R Asson 34, 5 C Fisher 34, 6 H Chau 33, 7 D Payne 32, 8 A Rooker 32.

Padbrook have been handed an away tie in the third round of the Mail on Sunday Classic.

Their reward for beating Lyme Regis is a trip to Enmore Park near Bridgwater.

The Somerset course has happy memories for Padbrook as they won there the last time the clubs were paired together in this event.
