TIVERTON Rifle Club’s sports shooters are on target for success in the Devon Sport Rifle League.

The A team of Kieran Bodkin, Steve Smith and Russell Toy have won four of five rounds so far, with victories over Okehamp-ton A, Pinhoe A, Shebbear A and Yealm-pton A. Their only defeat was by one point to Paign-ton A (572-573). Top scorers were Bodkin 97, Smith 96, and Toy 97.

The B team of Chris Burton, Jeremy Grant and Bernard Schwarz have secured wins over Cullompton A and Pinhoe B but lost out to high scores from Tavis-tock A and Fonthill A, and by just three points to Exmouth (534 to 537). Top individual scores came from Burton 92, Grant 95 and Schwarz 93.

The C team of Simon Radford, Jeff Poole and Mark Jones were unbeaten at round five, with wins over Tavistock C, Fonthill C, Yealmpton B and a bogey round. They also drew 527-527 against Paignton C. Top scorers were Radford 93, Poole 93 and Jones 94.

The D team have also performed well apart from in their opening round against Tavis-tock D which resulted in defeat by 520 to 506.

They’ve beaten She-bbear B, Yealmpton C, Cullompton B and Fonthill E. Top scorers were Paul Sprague 90, Tony Sprague 93, Nick Conabeare 89 and Malcolm Gillam 84.

All four teams will be shooting against the same opposition in rounds six to ten so hope to stay in winning form.
