CREDITON Chargers have reached the final of the Exeter and district cup for the second year running thanks to a victory over Division 1 outfit Weymouth Bandits.
Chargers, who currently lead Division 2, have been rewarded with a clash against first division leaders Torbay Tigers.
They pulled together to produce a stunning defensive display against the Bandits to win 78-67 although their lead slipped to five points in the fourth quarter.
Captain and MVP Mike Lewis (30 pts) came good in the final quarter to lead his side, with Raffy Zappia (15) and Daniel Wiezcorek (13) supporting well.
Back in the league, depleted Chargers came through against the tenacious Torbay Toffs 68-57 with 19-year-old Liam Dunn taking centre stage as MVP, scoring 17 crucial points.
Mike Lewis (25) and Daniel Wieczorek (17) yet again helped Chargers to come from behind to edge this tense encounter against one of their main challengers for the division 2 title.
Chargers looked lethargic after their two hour trip to Weymouth Raiders but held on to win 67-62 with 34 points from Wieczorek.
